In response to budget cuts, the Bloomfield Public Library has elected to reduce its hours of operation.

The library will now be closed Sundays effective immediately. Then on Monday, Oct. 3, hours of operation will change to the following: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays.

Budget cuts necessitated the scaled back hours, said Catherine Wolverton, Bloomfield Library director: "We're trying to act responsibility," she said.

Library funding was cut by $74,321 between 2010 and 2011. Its budget now stands at over $1.6 million, according to Wolverton.

Reducing hours was a "hard and heartbreaking" decision made by the library board of trustees, she said.

Meanwhile, photocopying and printing fees are increasing to 20 cents per page.
